10 Things to do in Niagara Falls with Mom this Mother’s Day
There is no better place to bring mom than Niagara Falls for Mother’s Day. There are so many beautiful spots to take her, that you surely won’t run short of places to take her in this city. In Canada, Mother’s Day is the third largest greeting card holiday (following Valentine’s Day and Christmas), so it’s a big one to show mom that you care. Here’s just a couple of great spots in Niagara Falls to take her…so grab the camera and get ready to treat her to something special!
With the help of people just like you on Instagram, I’ll let their pictures tell my story of suggestions.
1. Take in the beautiful scenery
Wow, where to begin with this one? The daffodils are in full bloom at the bottom of Clifton Hill and into Queen Victoria Park. Take a walk along the path that runs alongside the Niagara Falls, and you will witness the colours popping all around you. This is a sight you have to see! Also at the bottom of Clifton Hill is the Oakes Garden Theatre — this is a place the mom can relax.
2. Clifton Hill
It’s not called “the Street of Fun by the Falls” for nothing! This street isn’t just for kids, but for the whole family — and that includes mom! She will feel young again at the Great Canadian Midway, she will love the view from the Niagara SkyWheel, she’ll enjoy a challenging round of miniature golf at Dinosaur Adventure Golf, and then you can treat her to lunch at Boston Pizza Clifton Hill, which includes an online Family Meal Deal option for added savings.
3. Hornblower Niagara Cruises
The Hornblower Niagara Cruises is a magical boat ride to the Falls, in which you can choose from a couple different options such as a daytime cruise, a Falls illumination cruise, and because Mother’s Day falls on a Sunday, you can even choose a Falls fireworks cruise. The Niagara Falls fireworks schedule can be seen here.
4. Niagara-on-the-Lake
It’s been described as the “prettiest town in Ontario“, and it really is! Mom will take a step back to the 19th century here, with quaint bed & breakfast hotels, restaurants, spas, and shopping. Horse-drawn carriage rides abound, and you can even take in a play at the Shaw Festival.
5. Visit a winery
Visit www.wineriesofniagaraonthelake.com for a full list of events happening not just on Mother’s Day, but throughout the year as well. Events happening such as “Sip and Sizzle” feature over 20 wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake that offer a unique grilled food and VQA wine pairing. It’s a relaxing and great way to treat mom to something special this Mother’s Day.
6. Skylon Tower
The Skylon Tower is a great choice for mom because you can take her to lunch at the “Summit Suite Buffet”, dinner at the famous revolving Dining Room. or simply just to take in a view from 775 feet above the Niagara Falls on the Observation Deck.
7. Take a hike/bike ride
Niagara is well-known for natural adventure with hiking the Niagara Glen, or taking a bike ride along the Niagara River Recreation Trail. The Niagara Parks also offers daily guided hiking tours that leave from the Niagara Glen Nature Centre from 11 am – 2 pm during the Spring and Summer. Call 905-354-6678 for details.
8. Dufferin Islands

It’s the perfect spot to treat mom to a picnic, for children to feed the geese or for a family walk and picture opportunity. It features 10 acres of paradise with several islands connected by bridges and pathways. She will love the scenery, peace and serenity that this hideaway spot will bring.
9. Butterfly Conservatory

The Butterfly Conservatory features over 2000 tropical butterflies that float freely among exotic blossoms and greenery. The paths wind through a tropical environment including gorgeous waterfalls and colorful scenery. It is a self-guided tour and mom will love the peacefulness and tranquility that the building provides.
