Niagara Parks and the City of Niagara Falls have announced planned road closures in the core tourism area to enhance safety and enjoyment for visitors during peak weekends, starting with the Victoria Day long weekend. These closures are set to ensure a pedestrian-friendly environment during times of high visitation.
Red Denotes Closed Roads During the Holiday Weekend
Road Closure Details:
- Areas Affected:
- Niagara Parkway from Clifton Hill to Fraser Hill.
- Clifton Hill from Victoria Avenue to Falls Avenue.
- Closure Times:
- Starts at 7 p.m. with complete closures by 8 p.m.
- Duration: Until midnight on designated weekends.
Holiday Weekends with Planned Closures:
- Canada Day Weekend: Saturday, June 29; Sunday, June 30; and Monday, July 1.
- Civic Holiday Weekend: Saturday, August 3; and Sunday, August 4.
- Labour Day Weekend: Saturday, August 31; and Sunday, September 1.
These closures will allow pedestrians to safely explore Queen Victoria Park and the surrounding areas during busy holiday weekends. The measures will also aid Niagara Parks Police and Niagara Regional Police in managing the area and ensuring controlled access for emergency services.
Adjustments and Cancellations:
- Road closures are subject to change based on decisions by Niagara Parks Police and Niagara Regional Police Service.
- In case of bad weather or lower-than-expected visitation, the closures may be modified or cancelled.
Transportation Information:
- The WEGO Green Line will operate from Rapidsview to Table Rock during the closures.
- Visitors are encouraged to use nearby parking lots, including Clifton HIll’s Main Lot, Niagara Parks’ Rapidsview Parking Lot
- The WEGO Red and Blue lines will have reduced routes, with no service to Table Rock and Clifton Hill from 5 p.m. until the end of the daily schedule. Expect delays and disruptions for any routes passing through the tourism area.
