On Sunday, January 12th, 2020 Dollar Day returns to Clifton Hill.
Niagara residents are encouraged to take part is this yearly event with select Clifton Hill attractions charging just $1 admission; proceeds of the “Dollar Day” event goes towards Cystic Fibrosis research.
The event is open to local people only. Proof of residence is required, and kids under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult
About Cystic Fibrosis
Dollar Day on Clifton Hill has raised thousands of dollars each year for Cystic Fibrosis and we are hoping to raise even more this year. Cystic Fibrosis Canada describes Cystic Fibrosis (CF) as “the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults with no known cure. CF primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. In the lungs, where the effects of the disease are most devastating, a build-up of thick mucus causes increasingly severe respiratory problems. This mucus and protein also build up in the digestive tract making it difficult to digest and absorb nutrients from food. Large quantities of digestive enzymes must be consumed with every meal and snack.”
Nancy Clayton, vice-president of the Niagara chapter for Cystic Fibrosis Canada has organized the Museum Day event since its inception in 1989, over 30 years ago. She came up with the idea of “Dollar Day” to find a way to raise awareness of a disease that few people know much about, while raising money for the cause. It has been a huge success ever since.
According to the organization, about one in 25 Canadians carries a defective version of the gene responsible for CF.
Dollar Day on Clifton Hill will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Niagara residents will be required to carry a form of photo ID to take part in the event that contains their Niagara residential address. A Driver’s license, passport or student card are valid sources of photo ID. Children under the age of 12 are to be accompanied by an adult at the participating attractions.
Here is a list of the participating attractions:
- Ripley’s Moving Theatre (closing at 3 p.m.)
- Zombie Attack
- Movieland Wax Museum of the Stars
- Crystal Caves Mirror Maze
- Guinness World Records Museum
- House of Frankenstein
- Mystery Maze (weather permitting only)
- Bronto’s Adventure Playland (weather permitting only)
- Captain Jack’s Pirate Cove (Cannon Blasters and Time Freak)

Is dollar days open to residents of Niagara region (ie. Welland, Port Colborne, St.Catharines etc) or just residents of the City of Niagara Falls? Thsnhs
Hi Gillian, we will take anyone in the Niagara Region, so any or all of the above will be approved. 🙂
I was wondering in this dollar day stuff is for people who live in St. Catharines ?
Yes, we will take anyone in the Niagara region.
Wish it was southern Ontario lol
I was wondering how come it’s only open to Niagara area residents. I would love to attend and help out with the cause but we live in South Western Ontario.
Thank you.
To control the pressure…its already running at full boil with just Niagara residents.
Does this include the Hornblower and/or the Skylon Tower?
No, Skylon does not participate and the Hornblower is closed for the season (they won’t reopen until May *weather permitting).
What are the hours?
10-5.
I go to Brock University! Can I still participate in this?
Hi Natalie, as long as you are currently residing at a Niagara region residence, than yes.
Wondering- if I have a guest from out of town, but I myself am a Niagara Region resident, can they come with me?
Hi Grant, yes, as long as you are the one that pays. The cashier will only check the ID of the person paying.
Will you be ok with showing of a health card with a copy of your bank statement that has your address due because I can’t get a drivers license because of my health and don’t have a passport and I’m not a student either. Thank you
Not likely
Is the ferris wheel a dollar ride
Hi Ryan, unfortunately not. The lineup would be much too long.

Hi there,
What about Dunnville? Is that included?
Yes
How crowded does this event get? Are the lineups huge? Also, do you pay at each attraction or is there a main ticket booth for all?
It does tend to get busy, though there is full staff to handle the pressure and get people through quickly.
You pay at each individual attraction.
This is amazing. Me and my son will be going. He is 2 and is a carrier of CF. Love what you guys are doing.
Are the events $1 even or $1 plus tax? (If it’s an even dollar then I know to just bring bunch of loonies)
Is Dunnville considered Niagara Region?
Yes!
I wish there would be a special rate for people who moved out of Niagara but love to bring their kids to this.

For ID what happens if someone only has a health card with picture on it. Would this be OK ?
Health cards are not acceptable forms of ID. You can also use a: Drivers Licence, Passport, Canadian Citizenship Card, Military/Armed Forces Identification Card, LCBO Bring Your ID Card (BYID), Secure Indian Status Card (Government of Canada) A Permanent Resident (Government of Canada), A photo card issued under the Photo Card Act.
This should be for *anyone*. I have family outside of the falls that would love to attend but cannot afford the normal prices. Especially when they have 3 and 4 children.
Hi, I live in the Niagara region, but we want to bring a guest that lives in Hamilton, would that be allowed or would every single person attending must be from the Niagara region?
It is only for Niagara Falls residence this year??? It was for all Niagara Region in the past. If only for Niagara Falls residence; that is really too bad 🙁
I have a property in Niagara Falls, can I just bring one of my utility bills to show residency?

Can you use a health card for a 13 yr old? If they go down their selves?
Hi Teresa, health cards are not an acceptable form of id. Also the billing contact is the only one that can redeem.
So the kids will not be able to redeem once they get there.
