For this special anniversary season, the race kicks off at Oakes Garden Theatre, overlooking the majestic Horseshoe Falls. It’s a nostalgic return to where it all began, and the perfect backdrop for the intense competition to come.

Synopsis:  THE AMAZING RACE CANADA returns to where it all began as 11 teams start the adventure of a lifetime in Niagara Falls, Ont. As teams face their first challenges and race to find host Jon Montgomery at the mat, some get pushed over the edge, others face their fears, and everyone lights up the night.

This season features an eclectic mix of contestants, each bringing their unique backgrounds and stories to the race. Among the competitors are former professional athletes, reality TV stars, Indigenous advocates, actors, YouTubers, wrestlers, personal trainers, and more. Notable participants include ex-NHL player and Stanley Cup Champion Brad May and his daughter Sam, personal trainers Eva Amo-Mensah and Trystenne Burey, and identical acting twins Lauren and Nicole Peters.

The adventure kicks into high gear with heart-pounding challenges at key locations around Niagara Falls. One of the most thrilling tasks involves rappelling down the Niagara Gorge by the Falls, where teams must conquer their fears and embrace the breathtaking beauty of the cascading waters below. The sheer drop and roaring waters make this challenge a true test of courage and skill.

Another highlight is the Great Canadian Midway, a vibrant arcade and entertainment complex on Clifton Hill. Here, teams dive into a whirlwind of fun and games, racing against the clock amidst flashing lights and the sounds of excitement. It’s a race within a race, as contestants vie for crucial advantages in the competition.

The Baseball Bros, former baseball players-turned-coaches Michael Crouse and Tyson Gillies, are also in the running. Reality TV veterans Kevin Martin and Gurleen Maan, who have both previously competed in other shows, are teaming up for the first time, bringing their experience and flair to the race. Martin, a professional poker player and winner of Big Brother Canada Season 5, is eager to bring all the drama and excitement to this season.

Other dynamic duos include Alberta wrestlers Taylor McPherson and Katie Mulkay, Newfoundland superfans Colin Rose and Matt Roberts, YouTuber John Ferguson and his friend Connor Carroll, Saskatchewan father-son team Michael Linklater and his son Amari, Calgary entrepreneurs Dorothy and Olus Adeneye, and married Ontario couple Olivia Curto and Julia Viola.

The stakes are higher than ever, with the winners set to take home a $250,000 cash prize, two brand-new 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV RS vehicles, and an unforgettable round-the-world trip for two courtesy of Expedia. With such tantalizing rewards, the competition is sure to be fierce.

Season 9 of The Amazing Race Canada was the most-watched program of the 2022-23 broadcast year, drawing an average of 1.7 million viewers per episode.
