EVENT: Film fest coming to Niagara Region
Organizer says event will focus on tourism, economy, environment

A small-scale Western New York film festival which organizers hope is destined for big things debuts this June.
The Niagara Falls International Film Festival, set to show from 20 to 30 independent, foreign and student films in venues throughout Erie and Niagara counties, has been in the works for more than a year, said Lidia Couzo, the festival’s executive director. It’s set to take place from June 5 to 13.
“It’s a tourism and economic development tool for the Niagara Region,” said Couzo, pointing out the success of similar festivals in others parts of the state, such as Syracuse and Woodstock.
