Waste Reduction Week Event at the Pen Centre this weekend

In recognition of Waste Reduction Week across Ontario (October 19th – 25th, 2015), the Pen Centre in St.Catharines is calling on all Niagara Residents to come in for their 10th annual event in which they encourage you to drop off unwanted electronics, old prescription drugs and glasses for safe recycling and/or proper disposal.
Electronics that will be accepted include: desktop and portable computers, computer accessories, printers and multi-function devices, mobile devices, televisions, telephones, personal/home/vehicle AV systems and home theatre systems. All items will be accepted at the PenCentre’s North-East parking lot (near H&M).
The Pen Centre will also be collecting gently used clothing through “Clothes for Common Good” in support of Cerebral Palsy. Habitat for Humanity will also be on-site informing visitors about its volunteer programs, services and projects, including its ReStore program for new and gently used building supplies.
“Waste Reduction Week is an opportune time to think about waste management and recycling, and take action to divert more waste from our landfills,” says Rick Woodward, Marketing Director of the Pen Centre. “The Pen Centre wants to do our part to make it easier for Niagara Residents to join in environmentally conscious choices. Understanding how a little effort today goes a long way to protect the environment for future generations is important. It’s also a perfect opportunity for all of us to make even the most simple changes in our life, like refusing a shopping bag at checkout.”
