For over 55 years, Tower of Power has been setting the gold standard in funk and soul music. Their signature sound, first introduced in East Bay Grease, landed them a deal with Warner Brothers and led to their explosive 1972 debut, Bump City, featuring hits like “You’re Still A Young Man” and “Down to The Nightclub.” The ’70s brought even more success with radio staples “So Very Hard to Go” and “What Is Hip?”, solidifying their place in music history.

Even after half a century, their passion for performing remains as strong as ever. In 2018, Tower of Power marked their 50th anniversary with a historic homecoming show in Oakland, captured in 50 Years of Funk & Soul: Live at the Fox Theater. Their high-energy grooves and electrifying stage presence continue to captivate audiences worldwide, proving that Tower of Power’s legacy is as vibrant as ever.

WAR – 50 Years of The World is a Ghetto
WAR has been breaking musical boundaries since their formation in Long Beach, California, in 1962. Initially rising to fame in 1970 through a collaboration with Eric Burdon on the No. 1 global hit “Spill the Wine,” WAR quickly carved out their own lane with a genre-blending mix of R&B, rock, Latin, jazz, and blues.

Their 1973 landmark album, The World is a Ghetto, topped both the Billboard pop and R&B charts, driven by the socially conscious title track and the infectious “The Cisco Kid.” With over 20 multi-platinum, platinum, and gold albums and singles, WAR remains one of the most influential funk/soul groups of all time.

Led by co-founding member Lonnie Jordan, the band is celebrating 50 years of The World is a Ghetto with a 50-date summer tour, special remixes, new releases, and more. This is more than a concert—it’s a journey through the timeless grooves that have defined generations.
